Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: As a vampire in the Twilight universe, Jasper wields a standard set of supernatural abilities. He has heightened senses, can move at incredible speeds, and possesses superhuman strength. His skin is nigh indestructible, considered rock or granite like, and can only be injured by other vampires, werewolves, or shape-shifters. His teeth may appear like normal human teeth, but are actually razor sharp. Due to their strength and durability, the only way to kill a vampire is to rip apart and burn the remains. If the remains aren't quickly disposed of, the body can be reassembled.

Vampires are venomous, it runs through their entire system and secretes itself in the form of bodily fluids. Their venom is highly potent, it causes paralyses, unbearable pain, and if left to run it's course through a human being's system it transforms the human into a vampire.

Bloodlust is an average part of a vampire's life. It's always there, and Jasper has a more difficult time controlling it than the rest of his family. Due to his untrained newborn upbringing, he was not taught how to properly control or regulate his thirst. All human blood is equally tempting to Jasper, unlike the rest of the Cullens, who can notice the variations of blood scents in humans.

Jasper is known as the strongest fighter in the Cullen family, with extensive skill in hand-to-hand combat due to his years fighting in the Southern Vampire Wars. He's fast and dangerous, easily capable of ripping through an army of newborns, who are the strongest of vampires due to the human blood that still lingers in their tissues.

As a vampire with an additional ability, Jasper is pathokinetic. Due to his charismatic nature as a human, he has the ability to sense and manipulate the emotions of others. This includes being able to alter the intensity of emotions felt, and it isn't limited by humans and vampires alone. They can also work through any type of mental shielding, since since Jasper causes physical changes in the emotion through manipulating endorphins, adrenaline and pheromones instead of providing a false alarm to the mind.

His abilities do have their limitations through; the effects only last as long as Jasper is in the same room or general area. There are times when Jasper has no control over what he does- if his own emotions run high, they can easily bleed out an effect those around him. He can't always help it, it's like a form of accidental projection.

And on a side-note, Jasper also has degrees in history and philosophy.

And yes, he does sparkle in the sunlight.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: The Twilight Saga wiki
Point in Canon: Breaking Dawn. After the wedding but before Bella's pregnancy.
Character Personality:
"He's the blond one that looks like he's in pain."

Jasper is often viewed as the quiet member of the Cullen family. He can come across as cold, due to the militaristic mindset that had been driven into him many years ago. He had been very charismatic and persuasive as a human- a born leader gifted with excellent people skills. But after his transformation, he had been forced to make changes to himself, to adapt and become detached and uncaring when it came to training and killing newborn vampires. He had changed, loosing every last bit of his humanity, and becoming nothing more than a mindless killing machine. Unfortunately, he was unable to detach himself entirely from his killing due to his gift, and could sense the fear and emotional pain from each and every single one of his victims. Due to such implications, Jasper ended up falling into deep depression and self-hatred. Though those feelings have long since faded, they have led him to be much more quiet and on the fringe of things.

When around humans, Jasper can often appear very tense and uptight due to his continuous battle against his thirst. He tends to feel great shame for his weak control, and prefers to give off an aura of distance around humans to keep anyone from getting too close. His attempts to behave as human as possible are often rather thin, but he does try. It irritates him when his family hovers, which in turn becomes smugness when another in the coven was having a hard time.

While distant, Jasper also as a very caring soul. His gift, which could be easily used to manipulate others, is instead brought forth to calm situations that could lead into violence. He's highly perceptive of others, so much so that feeling their worries and concerns causes him to turn towards anxiety.

Known for his southern gentleman's charm, Jasper has a lot of respect for those close to him. He'll apologize for even the slightest wrong-doing on his part with a dip of his head and a sincere tone. He may seem a little old-fashioned at times, but that's just a factor that comes along with growing up in the 1800s.

Alice means the world to Jasper. She's his mate, and the bond between the two of them is unbreakable. It's because of her that he discovered a new life free of killing humans, and because of her that he truly began to feel something other than crippling self-hatred. He felt hope. So naturally, Jasper would do anything for Alice- which is why some people believe she's the only reason he chose to stay with the Cullens in the first place. He's very protective of her, and would follow her anywhere. Separation from her causes him more stress than he'd like to admit.

He does love the Cullens as well. Living in a familial atmosphere was something he had originally never thought possible for their kind. He has close brotherly bonds with Emmett and Edward, and the gentle caring air around Carlisle and Esme still never cease to amaze and hearten him. Jasper enjoys a happy emotional climate, it's something he can't help but gravitate towards, and in his family happiness is usually there one way or another.

Character Plans:

Jasper is gonna try his best not to eat anyone. I would like to have him detained and arrested upon his arrival to Port, because his reaction to being plucked out of his own world isn't gonna be the prettiest. After all of that is through, he'll initially be sticking with Alice, since hovering around her is his specialty.

First Person Sample
[The video feed flicks on, revealing a somewhat tense looking young man. He's blonde, with snowy pale skin and purplish shadows under his dark eyes. If you're a possessor of heightened eyesight, you may notice that his neck and jawline is heavily ravaged by crescent shaped scars, disappearing into the v of his shirt.]

My name is Jasper Hale. [His voice is clipped, with the barest hint of a Southern accent to it.] And firstly... I'd like to apologize if I had harmed anyone at my arrival. I acted on instinct, and that clearly wasn't the correct choice.

[He's silent for a few moments.]

I hear vampires aren't quite a secret around here, but I just can't help but wonder how well that's working out for everyone.

Third Person Sample

The pain is worrying. A debilitating, disorientating ache that starts behind his eyes and spreads from there on. It's the kind of ache that vampires should never naturally feel. Jasper is no stranger to pain, but this has no rhyme or reason to it, and it sets his teeth on edge.

He blinks, his gaze inexplicably switching between blurriness and sharp focus on the blades of grass and churned-up earth as he turns his head skyward. The night sky stares back down at him, which only increases his worry; it had been mid-day just moments ago. He had been at home, settling down with a book and Alice tucked under his arm. And now, laying in what appears to be a long since unused baseball field, with no plausible explanation of just how he got there coming to mind, it's safe to say Jasper is getting more tense by the second.

The sound of approach prompts the vampire to jump to his feet- he isn't used to the searing pain that occurs when his muscles scream in protest. A low snarl rumbles in his chest, the scents in the air are familiar; a city, the not so distant aroma of humans setting a burn in his throat- and yet they're completely foreign to him. Warily, Jasper's tests the emotions in the air, but can hardly get a reading past his own current state. He tenses, his body instantly locking down, and another snarl rips through his teeth. This time it's one of warning as the strangers get closer.
